Start with the workload
List what you want to host, who will use it and what downtime or data loss would mean. Separate learning experiments from services that other people depend on.
Plan access and recovery
Before renting, understand how you will recover from a failed boot or networking mistake. Check the provider’s rescue environment, console options and reinstall process. Keep account recovery methods separate from the server.
Plan networking and backups
Confirm public addresses, firewall responsibilities and any restrictions on virtual-machine networking. Define an off-server backup destination and a restore procedure before you store important data.
Choose virtualization deliberately
A dedicated server and a VPS offer different access and virtualization constraints. Confirm the exact provider and plan allow the virtualization you need; a dedicated label alone is not qualification.
Use the virtualization checklistWhere Svavyom fits
Svavyom is a web console that manages KVM/libvirt virtual machines on a server you choose. The Development Preview installs on one Ubuntu 24.04 LTS host and is for evaluation and non-critical use. You do not need a server to read the guides or the source.
