How it works

Three steps, none of them a gate

The email is optional. It adds guidance and updates on top of a repository that is already open.

  1. 01

    Download any time

The source is public. You do not need an email to read, download or share it.

    View on GitHub
  2. 02

    Join with your email

The maintainers email you the repository link and suggested next steps so you are not left guessing.

  3. 03

    Hear about updates

Occasional project updates, so you do not need to watch the repository. Remove yourself any time.

Why ask for an email?

Because a link alone is not a relationship

This is what the address is for, and what it is not.

01

We learn who is interested

Knowing how many people want this, and what they want to do, shapes what gets built first.

02

You get a guided start

A first email with the repository link and what to read or try next, instead of a bare link.

03

Updates come to you

Releases and milestones by email, only occasionally. No selling of addresses and no advertising profiles.

No server or hardware is needed. No access, pricing or release date is promised. Ask for removal any time at contact@svavyom.com.

Questions, answered plainly

What is Svavyom?

Svavyom is a self-hosted cloud and virtualization management platform in development for dedicated Linux servers. Here, personal cloud means infrastructure for virtual machines, rather than a file-sync service.

Can I install Svavyom and manage VMs today?

Yes, as a Development Preview. Install it on one Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (x86_64) host with KVM and libvirt, then create and manage VMs from the web console. It is for evaluation and non-critical use, not production workloads.

The code is public. Why add my email?

You never need an email to read, download or share the source. Adding it tells us who is interested, lets us send you the repository link and next steps, and means you hear about updates without watching the repository.

What will you email me?

First, one message with the repository link and suggested next steps. After that, occasional project updates. For now the maintainers send these by hand, and every message includes a way to ask for removal.

Who is it being built for?

First-time dedicated-server self-hosters are the primary audience, followed by developers and startups. Enterprise production requirements remain future work.

Do I need a server?

To run it, yes: a dedicated Linux server or other machine with hardware virtualization. Use a disposable or non-critical host while Svavyom is a Development Preview. You can read the source and docs without one.

Does Svavyom provide or operate my server?

No. Svavyom is intended as software for infrastructure you choose. It is not a server hosting service, and administration, recovery and backups remain responsibilities to plan for.

What about pricing and licensing?

Svavyom is free. The server product is AGPL-3.0-or-later and the contracts, tools and documentation are Apache-2.0. There is no limit, licence key, trial or call home.
